The South African Chamber of Mines, representing gold miners Anglogold Ashanti, Goldfields and Harmony, has prposed to increase the wage increments earlier offered to the NUM, UASA and Solidarity trade unions.
Accordingly, the new offer includes 9 and 10 percent increase for category 3 surface employees and 8 percent for all other employees. The surface and underground artisans are also being placed with improved offers. The proposed increase will be reviewed by the parties on Wednesday, August 22.
