IIJS Tritiya postponed to March 2023, says GJEPC

According to GJEPC, the rescheduling of different jewellery shows in India has resulted in the show calendar in India becoming very busy for the month of March-April 2022, and so IIJS Tritiya has been postponed

GJEPC has announced that IIJS Tritiya 2022, the third IIJS, has been postponed to March 2023, adding that this decision has been taken in view of the Council “being a responsible body and responding to the pleas from some members and trade associations in India, and in the interest of the Indian jewellery industry”.

According to Colin Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, “I express my wholehearted gratitude to the members of the gems and jewellery industry for making IIJS Signature 2022, which was held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO, from 18-21 February 2022, and which was the first mega jewellery show of the year 2022, a grand success. It was a welcome relief after a very difficult one and a half months due to the outbreak of Omicron strain of Covid. We had to postpone the show, which was earlier scheduled to be held on 6th of January, 2022.

“We are happy to share that in response to the expression of interest floated for IIJS Tritiya 2022, the third variant of IIJS, scheduled to be held at Bengaluru from 24th to 27th March, 2022, we had received an overwhelming support in form of applications from 442 exhibitor members for 960 stalls.

“However, we have also noted that the onset of the third wave of Covid, and the rescheduling of different jewellery shows in India, has resulted in the show calendar in India becoming very busy for the month of March-April, 2022.

“Due to that, in recent times, we have got concerned calls from industry members expressing that they may get less time to refurbish their stocks for such shows and some organizations and associations have also approached us requesting us to reschedule the show.

“The National Exhibition Committee members met on the penultimate day of IIJS Signature and all the members were unanimously in favour of going ahead and holding the show on schedule as declared, but it was also noted that multiple B2B shows at the same time will force the exhibitors to participate in multiple shows in a very short span of time, draining out valuable resources of the industry in very uncertain times, especially in light of what has happened in the last few days for which the Indian gem and jewellery industry will be the sole loser. Based on the same, it has been decided that the deposit given by interested exhibitor members as EOI for IIJS Tritiya will be refunded immediately.”
