Mumbai’s SEEPZ-SEZ Opens Postal Export Facility with FPO Extension

The initiative, notified through Public Notice No. 9/2025 by the Development Commissioner’s office, fulfils a long-standing demand from trade stakeholders. The new facility enables SEEPZ units to file shipping bills online through the SEZ-Online system and complete customs clearance directly at the FPO extension.

According to the notification, parcel clearance will be carried out primarily through verification of marks and numbers, reducing processing time. Once examined and endorsed by customs, shipments will be booked by India Post, which will issue tracking details for exporters.

Officials said the system strikes a balance between faster processing and compliance, with safeguards such as customs oversight and proof-of-export submission firmly in place.

The facility is expected to significantly benefit small-value consignments and e-commerce exports, offering SEEPZ’s exporters – particularly MSMEs – a faster, more cost-effective gateway to international markets.
