Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers has opened a 14,000 sq. ft. flagship showroom in Chennai’s Anna Salai, introducing a multi-format retail concept while outlining expansion plans across India and the United States.
Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers (VBJ) has opened a new flagship showroom at Anna Salai in Chennai, adjacent to its existing store. The launch marks a new phase in the company’s 125-year retail journey and strengthens its presence in one of the city’s key commercial corridors. The new showroom spans 14,000 sq. ft. and has been developed as a multi-level retail space with category-based zoning. The ground floor houses gold, precious and jadau jewellery collections, while the first floor is dedicated to diamond, solitaire and platinum jewellery.
The second floor introduces Atelier VBJ, a new retail format for the company featuring private lounges, viewing rooms and personalised service areas. The format also follows a selective display approach, where additional collections are shown on request. Speaking on the launch, Amarendran Vummidi of VBJ said, “Designing this store meant translating VBJ’s legacy into a space that feels relevant today. The layout has been structured so each category has its own environment, making the journey more intuitive.”
VBJ also outlined its upcoming expansion plans across Tamil Nadu and Telangana, with stores planned in Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli and Hyderabad. Within Chennai, the company aims to strengthen its presence in markets including T. Nagar and Chromepet. Internationally, the retailer plans to expand operations in the United States, building on its existing presence in Texas with future expansion into Milpitas, California.
Jithendra Vummidi, VBJ said, “This store reflects a different approach to jewellery retail. It brings together multiple formats within one space, allowing customers to engage with each category in a more structured way.” VBJ is a fifth-generation family-run jewellery business and is also associated with the creation of the Sengol placed in India’s Parliament building.
