Swiss luxury goods group Richemont reported a strong start to its 2027 financial year, recording first-quarter sales of €6.33 billion for the period ended 30 June 2026, up 20% at constant exchange rates and 17% at actual exchange rates compared with the corresponding period last year. The performance exceeded market expectations and was led by continued growth in the group's jewellery business.

The company's Jewellery Maisons division, which includes Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Buccellati and Vhernier, reported a 24% increase in sales, making it the strongest-performing business segment during the quarter. Richemont attributed the growth to sustained demand across established jewellery brands and broad-based regional performance.

Richemont's Specialist Watchmakers division recorded an 8% rise in sales, while its Other Businesses, comprising fashion and accessories brands, posted 9% growth during the quarter.

Regionally, Japan delivered the highest growth at 36%, followed by the Americas at 27% and Asia Pacific at 21%, supported by strong demand in Greater China, South Korea and Taiwan. Europe registered an 11% increase, while the Middle East and Africa recorded 3% growth despite geopolitical challenges in the region.

The results surpassed analysts' forecasts, with jewellery sales significantly outperforming expectations. Following the announcement, Richemont's shares gained in trading, contributing to a broader rise in European luxury stocks as investors responded positively to the group's performance.

The quarter marks another period of double-digit growth for Richemont's jewellery business, reinforcing the continued resilience of branded fine jewellery amid a mixed global luxury market. The performance also provides an early indication of consumer demand trends ahead of the sector's upcoming earnings season.
