Tribe Amrapali has designed more than 4,500 jewellery pieces for Part 1 of Ramayana, the upcoming two-part cinematic adaptation directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. The jewellery brand has developed distinct design identities for the three kingdoms of Ayodhya, Mithila and Lanka, drawing on ancient Indian ornamentation, mythology, temple art and traditional jewellery-making techniques.

The project involved over 18 months of research and design under the creative leadership of Tarang Arora, in collaboration with the film’s creative team. The jewellery encompasses principal characters, royal families, warriors, courtiers, supporting cast and crowd ensembles.

Each kingdom follows a distinct design vocabulary. Ayodhya features symmetrical designs, Surya motifs, Dharma Chakra-inspired medallions and lotus detailing, reflecting its royal heritage. Mithila draws on floral motifs, graceful curves and delicate ornamentation, particularly in the jewellery created for Sita. Lanka adopts a more sculptural approach, with asymmetrical forms, angular detailing and dark-hued stones for characters such as Ravana, while Mandodari and Vibhishana feature more balanced compositions and warmer stone tones.

Commenting on the collaboration, Tarang Arora, Creative Head, House of Amrapali, said, “Designing jewellery for Ramayana has been one of our most layered and creatively enriching journeys. The challenge was not merely creating ornaments but building a complete visual vocabulary for an expansive universe of characters, each carrying a unique identity, emotion, and journey.”

The production involved designers, master artisans, model makers and craftsmen, employing techniques including embossing, engraving, chasing, filigree-inspired openwork and granulation-inspired beadwork.

Ramayana Part 1 is scheduled for worldwide release on November 5, 2026, with Part 2 planned for Diwali 2027.
