THE Kimberley Process (KP) has agreed to publish the statistics of diamond exports of each of the member countries during a closed-door meeting at the annual plenary in Botswana according to reports. Until now, the data had been available only to KP members. %% The KP statistics working group indicated that the final data format was still being worked upon, but could in future include quarterly, annual and bilateral trade statistics. %% Non-governmental organisations and diamond industry observers welcomed the KP’s decision saying it would help ascertain if countries were exporting more diamonds than they actually produced.
