Christie's Jewels: The Hong Kong Sale generated revenues worth $78.9 million, which the company refers to as the ‘the highest total ever for a jewellery auction in Asia and the largest at Christie's worldwide’, reports say. %% The top lot was a 14.23-carat, VVS2, type IIa fancy intense pink, rectangular-cut diamond bought for $23,165,968, or $1.63 million per carat, reports say. The sale saw its top six lots selling for over $2 million - a diamond necklace designed with a 12.29-carat, D, IF, type IIa Golconda pear-shaped diamond was bought for $3,547,152; a 16.72-carat, D, type IIa marquise-cut diamond sold for $3,114,384; a 7.04 carats oval-cut ruby ring was bought for $2,970,128; a pair of ear pendants with cushion-cut rubies of 5.02 carats and 4.24 carats and designed by Etcetera was bought for $2,595,062 and a pair of cushion-cut Kashmir sapphire ear pendants --8.74 carats and 8.65 carats was bought for $2,032,464. %% Amongst the other lots the sale saw a favourable buying response for exceptional Burmese rubies and Kashmir sapphire and jadeite.
