THE European Court in Luxembourg has postponed an October 4 deadline for Alrosas appeal against the European Commissions order cancelling its trade agreement with De Beers. Instead, Alrosa’s arguments will be presented to the Court during an oral hearing on a date to be determined by the Court, it said, adding it expected the hearing to take place soon.%%Last month, the European Court accepted Alrosas application for accelerated hearing of its appeal against the trade ban, which the European Commission competition authorities have ordered to take effect from January 1, 2009.%%European Commission (EC) officials are on the defensive in the case, which Alrosa initiated on June 29. One of the core claims in its challenge, which the EC denies, is that it made a bilateral deal with De Beers on the cancellation of the trade contract, without informing Alrosa.
