Dalumi Diamonds opens a polishing plant in Botswana

The plant plans to increase its workforce by year end

Massive raids conducted by the Antwerp income tax authorities on over 40 diamond merchants in the province most of them Gujrati’s on jan 24, 2007 have shocked the diamond merchants in Mumbai as most diamond exports from the city are made to Belgium. Diamonds worth million of dollars were seized.%%According to sources, Antwerp authorities have accused the diamond merchants of duty evasion. As per IT authorities there, diamonds are exported from Mumbai and other parts of India to Geneva through legal channels. However they are clandestinely brought to Antwerp and then exported to Dubai free port.%%While some diamonds are sent to Dubai local market most are again exported from Dubai to other places. The merchants thus avail of all export benefits without paying any duty, according to IT officials, Antwerp.
