A seminar organised on Application of Science and technology for the growth of diamond trade, on February 11, 2008 was graced by the presence of renowned trade members, gemologists and students. It was addressed by world well-known scientists like Prof. Alan. T. Collins, Dr Philip Martineau and Mr. John Chapman among others.%%The highlight of the seminar was interaction of science with the trade. Recent scientific developments in the understanding of optical properties of diamonds were of immense help to the trade members present in the matters related to the enhancement of quantitative aspects such as colour and clarity and also identification of synthetics, treatments and processes on stones.%%The event was sponsored by Diamond Exporter’s Association Limited and Co-Sponsored by The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council and Bharat Diamond Bourse. It was organized by Gemological Institute of India, Indian Diamond Institute, Indian Institute of Gem and Jewellery and Forum of Indian Gemologists.
