Recent reports indicate that several jewellers in the state have already faced criminal charges due to non-compliance. Since early July, BIS has been conducting raids to enforce adherence to the rule, aiming for full compliance among all jewellers across the country.

The Indian government's directive requires all gold ornaments to prominently feature the HUID number starting April 2023. Despite efforts, only 70-80% of jewellers have implemented this requirement, prompting stringent enforcement measures by BIS to safeguard consumer interests and uphold industry standards.
