India-Saudi Jewellery Trade Ties in Focus at Inaugural SAJEX 2025

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) will host the first Saudi Arabia Jewellery Exposition (SAJEX 2025) from September 11–13 at the Jeddah Superdome, in what is being seen as a major step in strengthening jewellery trade ties between India and Saudi Arabia.

The event, organised with the support of India’s Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, and the Consulate General of India in Jeddah, will feature more than 200 exhibitors across 250 booths from India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Hong Kong, and Lebanon. Organisers expect over 2,000 trade visitors. Exhibits will cover a wide spectrum — from diamonds, coloured gemstones, and gold jewellery in various purities, to platinum, lab-grown diamonds, bridal collections, and jewellery technology.

A central feature of the exposition will be the World Jewellery Investment Forum, jointly convened by GJEPC and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment (MISA) on September 11. The forum will bring together policymakers, brands, and investors to explore opportunities across the jewellery supply chain, as Saudi Arabia seeks to expand its role in the global luxury market under its Vision 2030 strategy.

India’s Consul General in Jeddah, Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, described the event as more than an exhibition, calling it “a reflection of strengthening ties between India and Saudi Arabia” and highlighting its potential to connect craftsmanship with new consumer demand in the Gulf.

According to GJEPC chairman Kirit Bhansali, the Saudi jewellery market is growing rapidly, projected to reach USD 8.34 billion by 2030, up from USD 4.56 billion in 2024. Demand for plain gold jewellery in 18K and 21K, as well as diamond-studded and design-led pieces, is driving this expansion. India, meanwhile, exported USD 28.7 billion worth of gems and jewellery in FY 2024–25, maintaining its position as the world’s leading supplier.

SAJEX follows curtain-raiser events held earlier this year in Riyadh and Jeddah, which drew more than 280 Saudi industry representatives. Organisers say the exposition is intended to create a dedicated B2B platform in the Kingdom, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s broader economic diversification goals while opening new export opportunities for Indian manufacturers.
