Edstead has released a new documentary series, 'Jewels of Legacy', now streaming on JioHotstar. The four-part series examines the history, cultural context and inter-generational values that have shaped four long-established Indian jewellery houses.

The series focuses on Kishandas & Co, Mahesh Notandass Jewellers, VBJ (Since 1900), and Abaran Timeless Jewellery. Each episode traces the evolution of these businesses, their craft traditions and the internal knowledge systems that continue to influence their design and manufacturing practices.

Kishandas & Co is profiled for its role in preserving Hyderabad’s royal jewellery techniques. Mahesh Notandass Jewellers is featured for its couture-led design philosophy. VBJ’s century-long legacy and temple-inspired design tradition form another chapter, while Abaran Timeless Jewellery highlights its family-driven approach rooted in purity and long-standing craftsmanship discipline.

The production uses archival materials, artisan-centric footage and family interviews to document how these brands have adapted to changing consumer expectations while maintaining heritage-linked practices.

Commenting on the series, Shekhar Bhattacharjee of Edstead said heritage and trust remain critical to consumer engagement. “'Jewels of Legacy' celebrates not just the beauty of jewellery, but the emotions, stories and cultural roots that give it meaning,” he said.

Edstead collaborated with jewellery specialist Preeta Agarwal, who served as Brand Partnership Consultant for the project and facilitated participation from the featured brands.

The series adds to Edstead’s documentary portfolio, which includes 'Indian Edtech Story, Great Indian Residential Schools, The Future Schools, and Bharat Fintech Story.'
