Pret Jewellery Seeing Consistent Movement at IIJS Bharat Signature 2026

Pret jewellery is turning out to be a major focus area during IIJS Bharat Signature 2026; exhibitors say it offers several advantages to retailers – it is design-led, the stock moves faster, and the working-capital exposure is low, finds out Khursheed Mistry.

Pret jewellery is emerging as a key discussion point among exhibitors at IIJS Bharat Signature 2026, with the segment seeing sustained interest. The dominant view at the event is that pret jewellery is no longer a seasonal add-on. It is being developed as a structured category with dedicated design stories, defined price bands, and repeat collections aimed at regular store replenishment.

This category of jewellery attracts younger generations who have disposable income, and are looking to change their jewellery frequently. Said Nidhish Lotia of Neetti Ateliier, Mumbai, "The younger generation is all about validating itself, and not about saving, or even thinking of the future. It wants to stand out among its peer group, and has the disposable income to splurge on itself, or buy jewellery for gifting purposes. This generation is the right target audience for pret jewellery."

According to Raghav Khandelwal of Jaipur Ratna, Jaipur, “Rings, earrings, chains, bracelets, and anklets are some of the fastest-moving jewellery items among younger customers. The biggest customer base of pret jewellery is young buyers with disposable income.” During the event, retailer enquiries centred around compact designs, lighter weight pieces, and daily wear jewellery. Added Malav Jhaveri, Aaroh Jewels, Mumbai, "Pret is going to be a big trend, now that the bridal season will soon end."

Pret Jewellery Designs

Design conversations at the show indicate a clear move towards lighter constructions and simplified forms. Manufacturers are showcasing coordinated sets, small pendants, stackable rings, and minimal bracelets intended for everyday use. "Collections at IIJS Bharat Signature 2026 allow retailers to merchandise pret jewellery as a complete offering, rather than as isolated pieces. It helps retailers display the category more clearly on the shop floor,” said Khandelwal.

Lotia further highlighted that, unlike bridal jewellery, pret jewellery designs are planned with repeat production in mind as a way to ensure continuity of supply when retailers place repeat orders.

Retail Relevance

According to Jhaveri, "Pret jewellery collections are now planned around how retailers actually buy. These collections are updated more often than heavy jewellery, especially as bridal demand is slowing." Shorter design cycles help manufacturers react faster to changing customer preferences, and reduce the risk of holding unsold stock. Chintan Sakariya of Vama Fine Jewels, Mumbai, said, "Shorter design cycles help retailers buy smaller quantities first, and reorder only the pieces that sell well."

Another point that exhibitors make is that pret jewellery collections are increasingly built around workwear, gifting, and daily wear. "The nature of pret jewellery is such as to make the selection easier for retailers; retailers find it easier to sell pret.”

Exhibitors point out that there are practical business reasons for increasing pret jewellery production. "The jewellery is lighter and simpler to make, which means less money is locked into inventory,” said Lotia. Production takes less time, and does not always need highly specialized skills used for heavy or bridal jewellery, enabling workshops stay busy throughout the year.

According to Jhaveri, with gold prices rising, manufacturers plan pret collections using 14K gold, combined with gemstones and small diamonds to reduce costs, while still offering attractive designs for regular wear. Exhibitors confirm that pret jewellery usually sees more repeat orders than high-value jewellery. Said Khandewal, “This makes demand easier to predict, allows better production planning, and helps manufacturers manage cash flow more steadily.”

Overall, IIJS Bharat Signature 2026 is seeing good demand for pret jewellery, which is increasingly being viewed by manufacturers as a core business segment. The design structure, collection-based approach, and operational advantages of pret jewellery ensure that it remains in focus during the event, and beyond it.
