Thangamayil Jewellery Limited (TMJL), a publicly listed jewellery retailer based in Tamil Nadu, has received accreditation from the Indian Association for Gold Excellence and Standards (IAGES), a self-regulatory organization for the Indian gold industry. The accreditation was announced on June 26, 2025, and covers the company's network of 65 stores across the state.

IAGES has established a standard code of conduct for the gold value chain, covering refining, bullion trading, manufacturing, assaying, hallmarking, retailing and digital gold selling. The framework aims to promote accountability and standardized practices across the industry. According to IAGES, the organization currently has a presence in more than 200 cities through over 600 accredited partner outlets representing more than 100 accredited brands. Consumers can verify accredited retailers through the IAGES website. TMJL, which has operated for 26 years, said the accreditation aligns with its focus on purity standards and customer service across its retail network.

“Gold holds a deep cultural and financial significance for consumers in South India - the most dominant region for the sector - and informed and aware consumers are increasingly demanding greater accountability from the retailers they trust. We are delighted to have Thangamayil Jewellery join the growing IAGES network, and hope that together we can transform India’s gold buying mindset into a more confident, positive one, in the years to come,” said Kaushlendra Sinha, CEO, IAGES.

The accreditation framework is intended to provide assurance that gold has been sourced, processed and sold in accordance with defined ethical and operational standards. According to IAGES, accredited retailers may also benefit through enhanced market credibility and standardized business practices.

“At Thangamayil, trust is the foundation of our business, and we are always exploring new ways to build and grow our relationship with our consumers. The IAGES framework has given us a great opportunity to work within a stringent set of standards that reflect our own brand ethos,” said Ba. Ramesh, Joint Managing Director, Thangamayil Jewellery Limited.
