MCX silver futures rose Rs 2,134 per kg on August 10, while gold declined Rs 360 as investors booked profits and awaited US inflation data for rate cues.
Gold and silver prices traded mixed on the Multi Commodity Exchange on August 10, with silver extending recent gains while gold declined following last week’s sharp rally. Investors shifted focus to upcoming US inflation data for indications on the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate outlook.
MCX silver futures for September 2026 delivery rose Rs 2,134 to Rs 2,33,600 per kg. Gold futures for October 2026 delivery fell Rs 360 to Rs 1,51,461 per 10 grams.
The US Consumer Price Index is scheduled for Wednesday, followed by the Producer Price Index on Thursday. Earlier US data showed an unexpected loss of jobs in July, while employment gains for the previous two months were revised lower.
Spot gold fell 0.5% to $4,322.28 per ounce, while US gold futures declined 0.4% to $4,381.60. Spot silver fell 0.2% to $63.45 per ounce. Platinum and palladium also declined.
Geopolitical developments remained a factor, with tensions involving Iran and the US continuing. Supply concerns also increased following an attack on a Saudi oil facility, while the UAE’s ADNOC said 15 vessels had been attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz since the conflict began.
For domestic markets, Manoj Kumar Jain of Prithvi Finmart placed MCX gold support at Rs 1,50,500-1,49,100 and resistance at Rs 1,53,650-1,55,000. Silver support was seen at Rs 2,29,200-2,27,000, with resistance at Rs 2,34,400-2,38,000.
