A $6 million secure transfer facility has been constructed for diamonds at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Botswana, where even gold and money transfers will also be conducted. The facility will act as a high-security facility during import and export of diamonds, being equipped with secured entrance road, CCTV cameras and a secure transfer area for cash and gold, to handle exports, reports add. %% It is expected to open on April 1, 2010. Botswana undertook the initiative of building such a facility to enhance its diamond industry and mould the it into a global diamond centre. A jewellery-manufacturing industry is also being planned that would add to employment opportunities and economic diversification, repost add.
